Veto SB 15: An Open Letter to Governor Rick Perry

Dear Mr. Governor,

I am writing to request you veto the University bureaucrats protection act (aka. SB. 15), which passed the Texas Legislature on Wednesday.

University regents are currently hired by an elected Governor.  SB 15 would place this authority in the hands of University bureaucrats who are not accountable to the public.  While the current system is not perfect, keeping these decisions in the hand of a Governor who has to face voters every four years is the least bad alternative.

SB 15 would decrease accountability for a University of Texas system that is already failing to educate students.  The status quo is preferable to this outcome.  For that reason, Cahnman's Musings respectfully requests you veto SB 15.

This is simultaneously astonishing and not surprising:



Highlights:

• Personal Question: If you have "no plan A" after having been inundated with safe-sex propaganda since childhood, doesn't that suggest something about the culture of promiscuity in the first place?!?
• Back when I was chasing women, I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaated using condoms and I got all the safe-sex propaganda I could possibly get growing up in New York City and attending college in Southern California

•  The U.T. area pharmacy averages 4 sales PER DAY
• That's 1,460 per year
• This is only one pharmacy.

• Even when used perfectly, Plan B is only 90% effective.

• "That's what's best for society."
• That line speaks for itself. 

Update: And Plan B won't protect you from super-Gonorrhea.
